Have you Googlewhacked?

What IS Googlewhacking?
Googlewhacking is just what the tag line says, “The Search for “The One”.” Basically, you go to the Google Search Engine site (www.google.com), type in (2) two words that will only pull up (1) one site – next to impossible, but not.

Here are the rules:
Don't use quote marks within your query! Quotes tell Google to find the enclosed words immediately adjacent - and that's just too easy! (No other punctuation either, and no numbers - just 26 letters from A through Z.) As you whack, please respect these simple guidelines:
  1. Your two Googlefactors must exist in Google's view of this dictionary. Google does the work, and Google has the final word! In the blue bar atop your Google results, accepted terms are linked to dictionary.com, and so appear 'underlined.' No line, no link = No Googlewhack!
  2. Google also is the arbiter of a whack's uniqueness. Look to the right end of the blue bar atop your Google results. If you see "Results 1 - 1 of (any number),' you found exactly one hit = Googlewhack!
  3. Google shows you an excerpt of the page you whacked. Look at that text. If it's merely a list of words (such as a bibliography, concordance, encyclopedia, glossary, thesaurus, or dictionary), No Whack For You!

To find out more about Googlewhacking, go to www.googlewhack.com.

Morbid Poetry

I wrote this poem for a 9th grade project (some years ago I might add) and thought you might like to read it. It has been published, so you might have already read it somewhere else. But let’s give credit where credit is due…

Little Birdie
I awoke this morning with sunlight shining in my eyes,
It was to me a beautiful surprise.
I arose quite amazingly to a birdie’s cheerful song,
Outside of my north window, he mustn’t have been there long.
I ran to the window with the greatest of haste,
Raised the glass quickly, and saw him, face to face.
He began to sing the sweetest song that I have ever heard,
Sung by anything, especially a little bird.
I went into the kitchen to fetch a crumb or bread,
Because this little bird looked as if he never had been fed.
I place the crumb of bread upon the window seal,
The tiny bird began to eat it with his tiny bill.
And as the little bird enjoyed his crumb of bread,
I slammed the window shut and smashed his tiny head.
Only, from the mind of a 9th grader! And of course (for all of you animal rights activist out there) I never really did this.
