GREAT 3-mile run - fast, fast, and faster...

Good nights sleep. GREAT 6-mile run! Lost 2 more toenails last night. 2 that were bruised after a 10-mile run in January :~O I have 1 more bruised one -- I assume it will come off soon. I don't think my feet will ever be pretty again.

Oh, a note about spitting. I keep thinking I'm going to write this but when I think about it I'm never at the computer. Anyway, a lesson learned from a race in February. First, if you're running fast, DON'T spit in front of you. You will catch up with it before it hits the ground. And second, if you spit to the side, make sure no one's there!

Another day of rest -- just because I didn't sleep well last night. Too much going on, too much on my mind.

GREAT Race! Not the 25 that I was hoping for but 25:43, I settle for that. A PERSONAL BEST! That's like 2 minutes better than my last 5K last fall -- 27 something. That's really amazing to improve that much in just a few months. Runners struggle to shave a few seconds off their time. Mile 1 was pretty much up and down -- mostly down I think. Mile 2 was mostly up :~( and mile 3 was down hill all the way home. My first split was 7:23!!! Second was 16 something. Felt good. Needed a little bit more nutrition the night before to give me more energy. GREAT Nike drifit shirt from Nike Town.

Excellent 3-mile run. Working on speed drills the next 2 weeks leading up to the Atlanta Woman's 5K. Would really like to run in the mid 20s. My best 5K time so far has been about 27 but it's been several months since I've run one.

Ran the Silver Comet Trail 10K yesterday. I had hoped to get seeded for the time group 1A for the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th by running yesterday's race in under 50 minutes, but I didn't :~(  52:15 was my time. I don't know what happened. I was running consistent 8-minute splits all the way through mile 5 -- I was right at 40 at mile 5. But mile 6 must have been a 12-minute mile for me! WoW! I don't know what happened. I didn't feel like I slowed my pace but obviously I must have. Oh well, I'll be happy with time group 1B which I am currently qualified in from the Run the Reagan that will still put me WAY ahead of most of the 55 thousand runners that will be out on the 4th of July.

This was my first time running on the Silver Comet Trail. It is very nice. I quite enjoyed it. It was pretty warm for March -- about 60 or so at race time and quite humid. The humidity and BO hung in the air like an oppressive blanket all about me. I ran right over a snake -- if anything, THAT should have made me run faster!

I heard one runner talking about seeing a fox.

Quick and Easy 3-mile run. No pain. Will take tomorrow off and race on Saturday...

GREAT 4-mile run. No pain. Took 2 Aleve last night. I think that helps.

Tuesday, March 07, 2006

Good 3-mile run from a 12-minute to an 8.3-minute mile pace. Some pain in my left hip. Really, really tired. I think that 1/2 marathon wore me out more than I realized.

Monday, March 06, 2006

Lazy 3-mile run from a 12-minute mile to a 8.3-minute mile. A little soreness in my left hip area. Will probably just keep this pace up for the week through Thursday and take Friday off. Silver Comet Trail 10K on Saturday. Trying to qualify under 50 minutes for the Peachtree time group 1A.

13.1 mile run - 1/2 marathon. Paced between a 12-minute mile and a 7.5-minute mile. Finished in 2 hours, 2 minutes, 25 seconds (2:2.25). Felt good! Stretched well afterwards. Took fluids at 6 miles and protein at 10. BIG smile on my face at mile 12 when I realised I can do this! Farthest I've ever run - Personal Best (PB). YOU GO GIRL!
